In a strident effort to become a little healthier at 44 years of age, I agreed to go on a Pressed Juicery<\/a> cleanse this weekend with my wife. Of course I had to make a video document of the surreal,\u00a0incommodious process,\u00a0which you can witness\u00a0HERE<\/a>. Special thanks to my dear old friend Jen Paige<\/a> for hooking it all up.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Pressed-Juicery-Cleanse\"<\/a><\/p>\n

It’s crazy, too, because the night before the cleanse we just so happened to take in the episode of “Penn & Teller: Bullshit!”<\/a> called\u00a0“Detoxing”<\/a>, which explores high colonics among other practices of alleged bodily purification. That show is\u00a0brilliant and hilarious and utterly thought-provoking if you’ve never seen it. And on this particular installment, we even get to meet a dude with a chin beard who’s willing to get sludge sucked out of his ass for $500 so he can help fund his low-budget zombie movie. Only in L.A., baby!<\/strong><\/p>\n

It’s so funny how I forget to take care of myself when I eat that extra piece of fried chicken or bust out\u00a0that badass bag of Skittles<\/a>. All I’m thinking is, “fuck, yeah, dude, SATISFY\u00a0my shit!” But then\u00a0I also forget that I share a life with someone who works out 7 days a week\u00a0and would like\u00a0me to take my shirt off with confidence just ONCE in a while these days like I used to when I was in my, er, twenties<\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

She evidently also wants to keep me around a while longer. What’s that<\/em> about?<\/strong><\/p>\n

WINE PAIRING: Aw, crap. Today we’ll keep it a dry one, okay? But, hey, you can always\u00a0poor some refreshing grape juice into a red wine glass…\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n
