Andy Rothenberg<\/a> is one of the finest actors I know. \u00a0He’s also a dear old friend of mine. \u00a0Seriously, I’ve known the dude for 30 years now. \u00a0We used to be in a successful sketch group together called Upstage Comedy. \u00a0These days, you might recognize Andy from such iconic shows as “The Walking Dead”, “True Blood”, and “American Horror Story: Asylum.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

Anyway, Andy lives in New York but has been out here in L.A. on an extended visit. \u00a0We decided to\u00a0hang out last week, drink some wine…and watch some horror\u00a0movies. \u00a0But BEFORE those rewards, I wanted to make a short film starring Andy. \u00a0And so I did. \u00a0These were the only\u00a0<\/strong>prior notes I gave him:<\/b><\/p>\n

Bring drab clothes. Unshaven. Depressed. \u00a0Unable to provide for anyone (including yourself) but still curious enough about things not to kill yourself.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

It would be fun to do a thing where you\u2019re feeding squirrels nuts in the park. But you only choose to feed them over yourself. Your nourishment is provided elsewhere.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

No dialogue. Just you. And music.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

And that was basically it. \u00a0And he TOTALLY went for it. \u00a0We had a blast. \u00a0Andy was so open to all my directions. \u00a0And he works in real<\/span> Hollywood. \u00a0This is a brave actor who GETS it (and, I suppose, it helps that he gets ME.)<\/strong><\/p>\n
